The Space Between — Photography, Architecture & Neuroaesthetics

Daniel Holfeld’s The Space Between has been featured in the inaugural issue of ARTOEND Magazine, an interdisciplinary publication exploring the relationship between art, neuroscience, philosophy, anthropology and technology. Published by the NAPAT Foundation, the magazine examines how artistic practice can illuminate our understanding of perception, consciousness and human experience. The issue’s focus on the relationship between the external world and our internal experience provides a particularly relevant context for Holfeld’s photographic practice, which explores architecture not simply as a physical environment, but as something capable of shaping emotional and sensory experience.

Originally developed through Holfeld’s exploration of Ricardo Bofill’s La Muralla Roja, The Space Between transforms architectural structures into abstract compositions of colour, geometry, light and shadow. Rather than documenting architecture conventionally, the series invites a slower, more contemplative form of looking, positioning photography as a mediator between the built environment and the individual.
