Contemporary Morocco: Building a New Vernacular Architecture
Daniel Holfeld served as the editor of the book Contemporary Morocco: Building a New Vernacular Architecture, published by Gandon Editions in December 2024.
With a background in architectural photography and over a decade of travel to the region, Holfeld brought a visual and curatorial perspective to the project. Including 30 architectural projects and overseeing the compilation of more than 550 photographs and illustrations documenting Morocco’s architectural evolution in the 21st century.
The book showcases 30 significant architectural projects across Morocco's twelve regions, highlighting the blend of traditional Moroccan craftsmanship with contemporary design. It features contributions from architect Dominic Stevens and Moroccan scholar Lahbib El Moumni, providing context and analysis of the country's architectural developments.
Holfeld's editorial oversight ensured a cohesive narrative that reflects the country's dynamic architectural identity .
